Took our LEGO® Robotics class and want more? And more of a challenge? This class is for you. Instead of working with step-by-step building directions and sample programs, we’ll start each class with a programming challenge, set by our instructors. After meeting that challenge, we’ll use LEGO® robotics kits to design bots to go with our programs.
Bots we built this spring included factory bots (forklifts) that could drive up to a target, stop before crashing into it and then back up; and all sorts of cars. One of our favorite challenges: build a bot that can trap one of our Hexbug Nanos.
How would you do that? With a trap door? A closing gate? What robotic device would trigger your trap? A motion sensor? A tilt sensor? How would you program your machine, and why? It’s up to you how to solve the problem.
Our instructors will be there to help you achieve success – presenting different problems each week or two. Tired of having no clue what your kids do in all those clubs? We’re different. A day or two after every class, your instructor will email a note explaining what the class learned in the previous session and what’s next. Sometimes we even include photos and videos!
NOTE: This class is led by TWO instructors (instead of one instructor and one aide) and is priced accordingly. We are not accepting parent aides for this class.
**Grades: Children in grades 4 and 5 may start this class with no robotics experience. Children in grade 3 need our core class, LEGO® Robotics as a prerequisite.
We provide for use during class: one LEGO® robotics kit and one netbook for each pair of students, and all ancillary equipment including Hexbug Nanos.
